Clearly, she wasn't sick. Very nice woman, but it was obvious she was abusing the policy.

Correct, if you're really sick you stay home. Wasn't difficult in the situation I mentioned to see it was abuse. Every time she accrued a day she used it.

Some managers get jaded after a while about employees asking for or taking sick days off when it falls on the week-end. There are those who are habitually sick on the weekend and you stating that you are going to be sick the next day is a bit odd. I might have said "I am coming down with something but I am trying to tough it out today. I'm not sure how I will feel tomorrow so I may or may not be calling in sick. Just to give you the heads up."
