I know there is much discussion on this already on the internet but I wanted to hear some opinions for my specific scenario. So, I have a female coworker (I am male) who I see pretty much everyday and I have noticed (for the second time now) that her bra outline is visible through her shirt. I work at a financial institution where the dress code is pretty slack (mostly business casual) but I highly doubt her outfit is appropriate. We are pretty good work friends as well so I do not want to see her get in trouble or embarrass herself. At the same time, we aren't close enough to where I can just say anything to her.
I suppose my questions are 1) is this a big deal in the first place? And 2) what would you do in my situation?
go to work with really tight jeans where she can see your bulge and see if she says anything.
Unless it is a black lacy bra under a white sheer shirt, I don't see the problem. It's a bit of a fashion faux-pas, but it's nearly impossible to get a bra to completely disappear under a shirt. Depending on her body type, it could be darn near impossible.
OMG, some of your responses are hilarious! Well, the OP said he would keep his mouth shut. I didn't get that the woman's shirt was see through, only that the outline of her bra could be seen which made me wonder why he was looking so hard - wow, way to lose a friend real quick. He'd go nuts at my firm where some of the ladies are showing major cleavage and no one seems to mind.

It makes going to work so much easier Cleavage for the win
I'm sure if you check out the male coworkers with the same magnifying glass you'll find some "crotch bulges" bouncing around the office. Would you pondering bringing attention to the inappropriateness of that?
This was an entertaining thread. Sometimes bras aren't totally invisible, and it sounds like this woman's bra really wasn't that bad. We had one woman in my office who was awful. I mean just the pits. She came in once in what looked to be a men's white tank top undershirt--- very transparent and her bra was just there for all to see. Another time she had on a tube top with her pink bra straps showing from the top. Her wardrobe was usually of this quality with transparent t-shirts, short dresses, etc. None of us wanted to touch this issue with a 10-foot pole and let her supervisor deal with it. We are not sure it really ever got addressed. Thankfully at least all but 2 of us in the office were women, but still.
Ignore the coworkers bra unless you want to get into trouble!
She is guilty of no taste -not a major transgression. Some women don't know that transparent clothes are inappropriate in the workplace and to when to wear buff colored underwear, a cami etc.
