OP - what kind of work did you do? What industry, I'm very curious.
I feel like I am stepping back in time...not to be mean, but I had to read this thread as I didn't know that anyone asked for or needed anyone to be a typist anymore. The jobs I know of require so many varied abilities as others here have pointed out. But, kudos to you for your speed (genuinely) that really fast!
Where I used to work they still require (for admin assistants/secretaries/executive assistants) typing at a minimum of 55 wpm, along with ability to utilize computer/software systems, composing letters, etc. I used to work in HR and never saw a job opening that requiring a typing speed of over 60 wpm.
like others said, grammar and spelling are more important. Knowing the software like MS Office and others. People have templates/cookie cutters already they just "Save As" new documents and edit the few things in them.
When typewriters and DOS programs where here then it was marketable. Now, not so much outside of law offices.
