10 years ago, you can take the CPA exams without taking additional courses. now, all (even US grads must have taken masteral units
the nursing board that requires additional units is only CA. they don't even know what units to take, just take additional 20 units (so you see, its more of restriction of foreign grads than what is really required knowledge)
Medicine, you need only to pass the required exams
Dentistry, you need to study 2 more years (just like nursing, just to make it harder for foreign grads to pass the exams cos this is also the most expensive)
Engineers, you need working experience (US) before you can take PE exams
I agree that basically, you need the US experience to really get anywhere, which makes it complicated because how do you get that experience if no one gives it to you
Then again, this problem is not just for Immigrants/Visa holders.
Civil. Eventually politicians will have to address the infrastructure issue with real money, not just talk. Older CEs will eventually retire or die. What State? Probably California or the northeast.
Both disciplines are saturated with people who think just because they have a BS in engineering then they can call themselves engineers.
They can because they are
As a ME (if Metro lets me call myself that) I would look at CE as a more stable career......too much outsourcing in the ME environment these days.
