if they are from the same social circle it is normal... birds of a feather and all
if one makes $100k, most of his co workers would to, and they in turn would form part of his circle.
that is true. Most are either in software or finance with a few pas/pharmacists sprinkled in.
Yep, and that still pertains to the jobs I mentioned.
Here's another

I agree. In Silicon Valley, California area and New York City you will see some early 20s people making that but that salary is like $50-60k in normal cost of living areas.
All of the people I went to high school with are making in the $50-70k range except one guy who is 25 years old and is a pharmacist. He makes $120k. OP, should of went to pharmacy school if you wanted 6 figures in your early 20s. I regret not going to pharmacy school myself when I found out how the job market is for chemists now.
Unless they work in tech... where $100k in Atlanta would be perfectly reasonable out of college and $150k+ in major markets.
they are my friends/people I know socially. I'm also in my early 20s.
Well you had best get networking with them and try to leverage some of those connections because it is possible that sooner rather than later your social groups will part ways.
I'm 27 and earn approximately $70,000 after taxes (income, medical, etc.) as a military officer here on Oahu, which is about the same that someone making in the low six figures earns after paying federal/state taxes here. I went to law school after college, though, so really didn't couldn't start earning a "competitive" salary until I was in my mid-late 20's.
