They took her out last night.... (owner, businesses, moving, federal)

I remember one firing at a former company. The woman came back from vacation to find that her keyboard was gone. When she went to her boss' office to report it, she was fired. They had removed her keyboard to cause her to seek out her manager.
Another layoff (same company). The direct supervisor did not know that members of her team were going to be let go. They waited until she was on vacation to fire people. The supervisor came back from vacation to find that half of her team was gone.
Well, how they did it to me, 20 minutes after I gave my 2 week notice, was ask to have a quick chat with me in my office, told me I could either leave on the spot, or leave at my regular time EOD. They didn't even ask me for my building keys back; I ended up just handing it to a close colleague of mine who also happens to be our Building/Office Manager, on my way out.
I was able to say my goodbyes to my department though, so there's that.
... the guys sitting next to the fired guy kind of scooted over a bit so they didn't get infected.
"infected"---that is an interesting/perfect word to describe it. We just had a Supervisor terminated. A few brave ones went on his social media page and wrote a few things. The rest--nope, not getting infected.

That reminds me, I worked for a guy decades ago who came back from vacation to find his office door locked/re-keyed. He went to his boss and was told that his position was eliminated!
This I've seen a couple times. Call people to a meeting. Tell them they're fired. Escort them to a waiting bus to take them to the parking lot. Weren't even allowed to get their personal stuff. Company boxed it up and sent it to them.
Computer industry? I ask because I know that's the only time I've ever heard of things like this because they didn't want anyone messing with the systems.
Company had a meeting with the staff, and said we had to make some decisions, the people that aren't in this room are no longer with the company because of the cutbacks in XYZ

The last set of layoffs at my company, people that were affected received an early morning meeting request with their supervisor. The meetings were 1 on 1, they were fired, and they were then escorted out of the office, not allowed to go back to their desk. Their personal belongings were packed up for them.
So I always wonder how this works if you don't have your keys with you. I keep my purse in my desk, which has my car keys. I would not think to take it with me to a meeting. So then I guess I'd just have to sit in the parking lot hanging out next to my car waiting for someone to take my purse to me? And hope nothing got stolen from my purse or wallet? Seems sketchy.
Plus assuming you do have personal belongings, how do you guarantee all your stuff will be given to you? I don't keep much at my desk (just tea, my cups, and a hoodie) but I'd be ticked if something was "forgotten" during the box up.
Sounds like your management team is not performing well. I'd be looking for my own exit before I was shown the door in an unprofessional manner.
Yes, I agree. It is fine as long as it isn't you to sit there and be entertained in someone else's termination from the company, but this should be looked at and considered carefully because this is how you are going to be treated. It is unprofessional to do this in a manner that other employees know what is going on.
