I work in software engineering, which, as you probably know, has a reputation for long hours. I was talking to an Indian coworker of mine and he was telling me about one of his previous jobs in India. He said it was the norm to work past 9 p.m. and that if you had the nerve to leave before 7 p.m. the office would clap as you walked out. I've heard from multiple people that Samsung, being a Korean company, has a culture like that.
That all you got? I worked at a place where you were overloaded but overtime wasn't allowed so the owners would go around and shut off the lights while you were working if it was past 5. That is only the tip of the iceberg for that place.
I had about 5 apartments occupied by Indian men around me last year. They were all working for a local Indian owned software consulting company. They were gone all the time, working brutal hours. Some of the sweetest souls I've met, BTW. Sure missed them when they all moved out and went home. Great neighbors!

Some of the nicest people you will ever meet are Indians who are employees. Some of the worst people you will ever meet are Indians who are employers.
