...Forget about being a street pharmacist or mowing lawns and washing cars. What do you do as a side job that helps you a bit of income? Curious to see what other people do.

Currently I do website-design on the side and looking to venture into other avenues.

I have a laser engraver/cutter and have a few good regular customers. I make about an extra 10k/year working a weekend every couple of months on big orders, and a bit more doing small name badge jobs, like one this morning that took less than an hour.

I have a versatile, functional machine shop on the side that continuously grows and evolves over the years. While I make some scratch with it, the primary goal of the shop is to build prototypes and bring ideas to life. That could take years to translate into financial rewards.

For a while I did transcription work from home - I had been doing it for a while before, during and after I was laid off in 2009. I think I did it for 3 years in total.

I got tired of being on a computer all day at work and then another 4-5 hours at night. So I slowly phased out my freelance transcription duties - much to the chagrin of my repeat customers that had been using my services for a few years at that point. Even now, several years later, I get emails from my old clients asking if I'd be willing to do a quick hour or two of audio (I usually say no).

It's possible once the kids are out of the house that I'll be inclined to go back to that side work - but not while my focus is on raising them.

I contribute to America's drug epidemic for a nominal fee. It helps since I am the only source of income in my house. Actually allowed for a nice trip to disney world.
