There doesn't need to be leak. Perhaps that person just cannot contribute enough to saving and retirements as they would like.

I feel the same way. I walk away with maybe 50% of my gross pay after taxes, insurance, 401k, etc., and I don't feel wealthy in any way. I save more than I spend, but don't save as much as I want.

Absolutely. I know people who make six figures who are broke living paycheck to paycheck . Often part of that is due to the student loans that it takes to get a six figure job, but still...

What does your monthly budget look like? What does your takehome pay look like?

Just my opinion. No rhyme or reason I think this way.
I think high paying is top 25-30% of people in your region.

In the Bay Area that is hardly above poverty level for a family. Only doable if you had free housing.

I wish I made that much in my early 20s. Particularly in a fairly low cost place like ATL. You don't know how lucky you are.

In my mind, a high paying job is one that not only pays me a decent amount to live on currently, but also give me the leverage to parlay this one into another of even higher pay. If it satisfies both criteria (no matter if it is currently a 50k or even 35k job), it is for me a "high paying" job, as in "high future paying job".
