I've been at this temp job for a little over 3 months. It's a seasonal job, so I need to find something else soon before it ends in possibly November. I was doing so well and constantly being praised by my supervisor. I don't know what happened last week. All of a sudden I started making silly mistakes and now I'm getting different attitude from my supervisor. I'm so on edge because I'm afraid that I'm going to make more mistakes that it's becoming hard to concentrate. I don't know if it's looking for a new job that's stressing me, or worrying about money or some health issues I've had recently, but I go into work in fear that I'm going to screw up. I can't even go into my supervisor's office anymore and joke with her because I feel too embarrassed and that she thinks of me differently. I don't know what's wrong with me.
I beat myself up a lot when I make a mistake too. Making the occasional mistake is fine but screwing up all the time is painful.
I would start by reducing the tempo of your workload slightly, and using that time to work more correctly. Bring it back to basics a little, work slowly and carefully, and try to catch yourself before you make the error.
You may be working too fast, you might be unfamiliar with the field, you may be overconfident, but don't worry. You are obviously taking your job seriously, just slow down a little and re-arrange your process so that it is more effective.
