Hello,

I recently got a job offer and I am currently in the process of submitting all of my pre-employment documents. Also on my job offer letter, it does not state any specific deadline in which I need to submit it. I was told that I can submit the offer letter before or on my start date.

My start date has not been clarified yet, so does this pretty much mean that I can wait until my pre-employment work is cleared and I can bring it in person once my start date is announced once pre-employment docs are cleared?

I always thought that an offer letter needed a response within like a week whether a start date is stated or not.

Has anyone ever had a similar offer letter like this? I just wanted to make sure so I don't send it in too late and the position gets filled or something like that. The reason that I don't want to submit the offer letter yet is because there is another place that I am waiting on for their response before I commit to it.

Thanks!

I would gather as much of the requested information as you can and provide that immediately, together with a cover letter that addresses any information yet pending. At the same time ask them for an approximate start date so that you can wrap up your current responsibilities and give your current employer reasonable notice.

I wouldn't give notice until the prospective employer sends you an offer letter with a start date.
