I am curious what are some of the reasons you have used to go on job interviews when you are working? It gets hard when you work 8 to 5. I recently got a new job but I went on MANY interviews before I landed a great job. I always felt my employer knew but when the average stay at this job is 6 months (I've been there 20 months) it's pretty obvious the entire team is searching.

For me, it was car had to go in the shop, doctor appointment, I called out for this job that I thankfully got..or had to be home for an apartment inspection. I only had 4 interviews for different places before I landed this job.

Just curious if you can also see through other people's excuses and know they are job hunting. At my current job, it was hilarious, we had a month where everyone was out "sick" but I knew they were on a job interview.

I have generally told my boss that I needed the day off to go on a job interview.

For the job interview for my current job, I told them I did not want to skip my then current project because it was important to me. They agreed to interview me at 6pm. The division manager as well as the resident engineer stayed late that day to interview me. They offered me the job on the spot.

I'd tell my manager I would not be in that day.
I stopped justifying using my time off to my boss a long time ago.

^This. Just take the day off. You don't need to give a reason or explanation.

Same here, whether the whole day or part, people can use PTO for any reason and no one asks.

Tell him you need a day to deal with your lady problems and make him uncomfortable to ask in future about things that he is not required to know

Most sane supervisors don't care why you are taking a day off, so there is no reason to tell them what you plan to do with it. They only care if they can do without you that day. Just inform him or her what day you won't be there to make sure it isn't a problem.

Only helpful for females with male supervisors....that would be well under 50% of cases...

Never thought about making an excuse to miss work. If I have PTO or vacation time coming I consider that my personal time. What I do on my personal time is no ones business but mine, and that includes my employer.
