We own and run a small business. For about a year now my son's friend has been helping us. He has it very good here- practically picks his own hours. No weekends, got all of football season off, nights off whenever he asks, etc.
I've been noticing him being very rude to my son. And he seems to have an ego, just because we are too nice to him, I think.
My question is, isn't it kind of stupid to be rude to your boss's family? Like tonight he wanted to go home early but after how he treated my son I put my foot down and said no, for the first time.
My son was just trying to make pleasant conversation and bring things up, and his friend would shoot him down like 'Duh, that articles like 3 weeks old' or when the friend was bragging that his mom was going to buy him a handgun and my son was explaining that was illegal and if he had it in his car and got caught with it his mom would get arrested, he just snapped at my son and sarcastically said 'Like I would have it in my car!'
Idk. Maybe it's wrong but I think it kind of dumb to be like that to your boss's son, right in front of them.
Fire his butt. He doesn't sound like a good friend for your son anyway.

Consider establishing boundaries between business and personal relationships.
If an employee is being rude on the job, put a stop to it with counseling, progressive discipline, and termination of employment.
