So just wondering is the 6 day work week the new norm now? I mean last 2 jobs, and current one i have now have a min requirement of 50 hours a week. But boss wants this done over 6 days, not 5 or even 4, last job i was let go from, demanded m-sat no options to get off, you must work it. Getting kinda discourage from even looking at other options as every one i applied for ask if its ok i work weekends too, requiring 6 days period. Do these companies know we have family and our time is just as valuable as the money the business wants to make.

work 3 days a week, 12 hour days...

pick a different job instead of blaming it on someone? you can't change how a company operates, but you can pick which jobs you accept

No, never heard of such a thing in regular white collar, corporate work.

I work 4 day weeks with 4 days off. I think it averages to 35-36 hours/week.

My company also has positions with 12 hour days. 3 days on and 4 off.

It isn't the norm, probably, but they are out there.

Its more common now, have seen employers asking this in job descriptions myself.

What is the profession? What you describe is hardly the norm, but it might be in certain professions (i.e. sales).

OP, please take a bow. Soooo encouraging that there are still people who value family over the rat race. One has to wonder if what ails our communities and world in general can be attributed the breakdown of the family.

Many of the people I work with work 6 days a week. Sometimes even 7 days. Not me though. 50 hours max, take it or leave it. It's my life, and I intend to keep it that way.

No, just your choice of employer. Quite the opposite here. We are moving more toward 4 10s and flex, with 4 days one week, 5 the next. Also, very generous with last-minute PTO for family related issues.
