Maybe they were looking to promote you and it came down to a "him or me" type thing? Or he was threatened by you?
I have found you don't want to be too skilled and knowledgable in the workplace. Bullseye goes on the back. If it's not true why would they get rid of valuable workers and keep dead wood around?
Whatever they teach you in school doesn't jive with today's contemporary corporate environment
