Once again, the company shorts me on time. In this instance, it shorted another employee also.
This happened last year twice and this year also. So this surprised me as it's all straight time this time
around.
The odd thing, they said "You're not getting anymore vacation time" yet looking at my accrued hours, I should have had 27, I now have 41+ so obviously someone forgot to turn off the tap.
I also just got a call from another temp agency to go to a company I had been with before. Looks like
dayshift (OH blessed Lord!) and the pay is slightly higher than this job.
So, should I stick around and try and get some, all or NONE of the vac time and just GTFO?
First, see if they'll give you anything. Then you just need to make a decision based on your own sanity.
I am going to be leaving a job and I am going to be losing a personal day, sick days and I have no idea if they will cut me a check for vacation pay because I am at the point where I do not care. I'll be off of nights, getting $2 more per hour and hopefully not in a really toxic place.
check the company handbook/policy on what happens to accrued vacation at termination - larger companies will have this posted. Most will pay out eligible hours; some will deduct for things like community service or holidays not used but pay out actual vacation hours. If they will not pay out, why not just schedule a couple of weeks of vacation before the other gig?
Comp leave is part of my compensation. They cannot just "take it away" or "short" me. It's as much mine as the checks that have been deposited. If they were to say, "Oh, we aren't going to give comp leave any more", it's time for a new job.
No, they will not give you the vac time. I'm tempted to try and get the 27 hours I DO have. But now found out (6 hours later) they shorted EVERYONE in the dept anywhere from 16 to 40 hours.
One worker was claiming that "Possibly they are short of cash, so their pulling this and will "later" make up the shortfall"
I said "If this is true, getting out will be the smart move"
