I quit my favorite job a few years ago because I was mad at my bosses thinking they were taking advantage of me and not appreciating me like they should. Last summer I had an opportunity to get it back but I made a mess out of it and lost that chance, too. So, now I am stuck in a job that I can't seem to do and don't like to begin with. I can't get over the job I quit and now in my 40s I curse myself all day, everyday. How do I get over it and make peace with myself?

Have you considered searching nearby locations for similar or the same positions? If you're willing to travel a bit i'm sure you'll find something.

Well you dont want to be working in a place where bosses take advantage of you and take all the credit either. Thats a crapshoot.

I did the same thing too. Sometimes we remember things differently than they actually were. If the job was so great, I would not have left. I was miserable but it was a "good job".

Where I am now is not perfect but it works. I have a different mind set now. I focus on salary, commute, benefits and job duties. I ignore office politics and the other crap that comes along with it.

I quit a job and regretted it but now years down the line it was the best thing I did for my career. I hated the new job I took but the job after that was amazing and half the hours for more money. Then I've moved up from there and the original company went belly up. I make 3 Times more now and work half as much (but still over 40 hours). My theory is everything happens for a reason.

Seems like there is more going on here than just the former job. Making peace with yourself over a lost job? Perhaps sitting down with someone and explore perhaps some deeper issues.

Why do you say that?
When's the last time you had your resume critiqued?
