I started working in a place that does phone surveys. After you work for two hours, if you haven't completed many surveys, they send you home. Otherwise you get to work two more hours.
I wasn't aware some businesses do this. I guess it's just an incentive to finish more surveys. The thing is, if I'm not there, nobody is there in my place, and no one is even trying.
It's hard doing the surveys because people usually hang up or you get their voice mail.
I'm a phone pro. The company has a number or a goal it has to meet. If you are under goal, you go home. Either learn how to get it done or find another job. I have over 25-30 years in telemarketing inbound/outbound call center work. Use your voice inflection, be confident, and get those surveys. I am counting on you. Also, ask your manager if they are hiring managers. I will relocate and work in Market Research management for 27,000. If you are in a warm climate I will be there.

Is it the same between survey taking and selling stuff on the phone?
I'm afraid they will fire me if I keep doing badly. On the other hand, it doesn't cost them much if I only work 2 hours a day.
Not really. Selling over the phone you haveto keep a person on the line and agree to make a transaction either right away by credit card (which is extremely hard in this day and age) or committ to receiving something in the mail. Surveying you are gathering information and once done, there is nothing beyond that for the person to do. You have them in the moment. You must put forth your best effort to finish the survey and get answers.
I'm on a system where I call an automated number to see if I have to work that day.
I just called and they said I'm not scheduled for today. I'm afraid they terminated me, although it's only my second week.
When you terminate people do you tell them specifically or do they just keep checking in and it tells them they are not scheduled for that day?
Most places tell you in person. However, market research survey places are strange. The environment is usually very stiff and rigid. I would keep calling them hoping you as scheduled to work. What is the company name? I'd like to research them
I just checked in and they again said not to come, so I called a real person. She said there's no problem, it just has to do with production etc. She would have mentioned it if I had been terminated.
Now I'm afraid I'm going to wind up working like 5-10 days a month! Has that ever happened to you?

Not really. There have been times when a list was running low, or a certain program was challenging and people were sent home ealy if they did not have the numbers. But, not a situation where we called in everyday.
