Not me. See ya, bye bye. Even just the breakroom is better than one's desk. (to me). But at one job they had to TELL me to go to lunch. I guess, being the first job out of college, it was them that taught me I NEED to get out, relax, re-charge.

I usually eat at my desk so I can walk on my lunch break. I'm salaried, and my boss doesn't really care when I leave for lunch or how long I'm gone. I might skip a break if we are super busy, but I'm trying not to do that. The time away from my desk and exercise is pretty important for my sanity right now.

We are required to clock out. But we cannot leave the property. It's to prevent us from hauling things to our cars ...They distrust the staff . I work retail.

We're technically not allowed to eat in our work area so no. I try to go out and walk as often as possible.

At my last job, everybody left at noon, and few made it back by 1:15.

Check the state laws because Fed does not have a law on lunch breaks. Florida does. Worked for 1 retail company that got fined because some worked while they ate their lunches. After the company was fined, they linked the tools like cash register, computers etc. to the time clock. If you clocked out your employee # did not let you go into any of the machines so you could not be on a register or changing prices etc.. 15 minute breaks are a "gift" from the company.

If a company requires you to come into a meeting at any time you clock in and out. Salary workers are usually exempt, though.

Sounds like the people at your job OP are not very efficient. They are probably working through their lunch to meet some kind of quota. No one would choose to work through their lunch unless they had to. No I do not do this, nor does anyone else I know.

Ok this sounds a little mixed up to me. Perhaps you have some typos?

Why does he HAVE to eat in his truck?

They would not FORCE him to eat in his truck if his lunch period is UNPAID because that is illegal. Working you off the clock is not only illegal but dumb because if you get hurt (especially sitting in a truck) you can sue them like a private citizen not apply for Workman's Comp.

It sounds like you're saying they call him when he CHOOSES to eat in his truck with the motor running and they want him OUT of the truck taking his lunch.
