That's ridiculous. I went to college so I could work in an office and use my brain. I like to mow lawns and have done that as a side business but give me the office anytime.

And as far as throwbacks, this is one of those rural areas that seems stuck in old days plus of course it's heavily conservative so yes it can seem primative at times.
Sorry that your options are limited. Then go with the flow and do what the others have suggested.

I have (generally) found that office work has better work/life balance. In the trades you make the bulk of your living from working considerable overtime.

In all your responses in this thread, I haven't seen a single one that says: "I'm stuck here for life and can't move because..." If you're unhappy, figure out what you need to do to move and do it. If you're happy, stay where you are. The only place where you're trapped is in your own head.

Already been through it and didn't know a lick about how Forks was.

If you indeed read all of my responses you'd get the original gist of the thread which is THERE ARE NO JOBS HERE TO EARN THE MONEY TO GET OUT!

Some people get paid for what they know, some people get paid for what they do.

You have to know what you're doing in any job.

I just read them all again. There's absolutely nothing in any of your posts that indicates you have no resources to go elsewhere. Reread them yourself -- and read the title of your post, which suggests you're trying to decide whether to take a "non-manly" job in the area.

If you can't afford to get out, suck it up and do whatever work's available until you can put enough together to move elsewhere. You're living where you are because of choices YOU made.

Oh yes there's no such thing as things happening along the way that change the course of things
