I'm about to gradute with a master's degree in Computer science next year in my home country Sweden. I really want to work in the USA but H1B visa does not seem like an option for a fresh graduate. So I thought about intra company transfer L1 visa. I was thinking that I maybe could work here in Europe for 1 year at a big international company and then ask to be transferred to the US offices if they have a position like mine open there. By big international companies I mean Spotify, Amazon, Ericsson etc.
I read some threads on quora that indians working at Amazon in India had an easy time of getting transferred to America after one year at the company. I can't seem to find anything written by Europeans but I guess it wouldn't be any harder here, I mean, why would it?
What do you guys think, is one year at a company enough for an average software engineer to be able to transfer to another country (USA)? L1 visa is no where near the difficulty of getting sponsored with H1B according to the research i've done.
