I live in Littleton, Colorado, which is about as middle class as you can get. I am now seeing fast food restaurants advertising starting wages at about $11.50 an hour on their marquees, which is almost 25% over the minimum wage in Colorado. Are you seeing the same kind of thing in your area? (Please tell where you live.)
It seems to me that, at least where I live, not many people are willing to work for less than that.
$11-$12 an hour in Bend Oregon. I've only seen one sign in North idaho, $9 an hour.
Same here, Brookings, SD. There's a labor shortage here, but the COL is quite a bit lower than Bend, and much lower than Brookings, Oregon, which is the Brookings I would really live in if I could. The wage to COL ratio better be good when you're talking the middle of nowhere where it's so cold in the winter. My job is what keeps me here.
I've thought about starting over somewhere else but the wages just aren't there.

I see signs at the fast food places advertising help wanted starting at $14, or $15. This is in the cities east of Seattle, such as Issaquah, Sammamish and Redmond WA. They all seem to be hiring all the time.
In the Sacramento area it depends on what part of the metro area and what the demographics are like in those areas. Pay ranges from minimum wage in the less-educated areas to around $11-$13 an hour in the better areas. A few of them will pay more for working at night.
Seattle just passed a $15 an hour minimum wage law, but that is only in the City of Seattle, and that includes health care.
For the county, King County, they will pay $15 with no health benefits. With health benefits, $13. 50 an hour for a company with more than 500 employess, and $13 for a company with less than 500 employees.
There is a whole plan set out to meet COL for the next decade.

That's really good. Our min wage is nowhere near $15 an hour and some jobs I've seen don't even pay that much.
At $15 an hour here, it's about $1900 a month. Rent for a one bedroom is $1100.
$10.75 and hour, Long Island NY and going up to $11.75 in December. I believe in NYC it's $15 an hour.
