Agriculture and healthcare. I worked. It doesn't bother me at all.

I used to do that when I was in the military and single. Once I got married, I stopped. Christmas is for all loved ones, not just people with kids.

This was my first year in a long time that I didn't volunteer so others could be with their family. I've decided to make my own 'family' and don't feel guilty taking time off for myself.

I was off Christmas and the day after. While visiting, my husband and I were shocked at the number of fast food establishments open on Christmas Day. The places were busy, too.

I am old enough to remember when everything was closed on Christmas except for emergency services.

I did on the first full-time job I had in NYC years ago, copyboy for a daily newspaper. The low life on Times Square was a bit thin that night, but otherwise just another work day.

I didn't this year, but did for several years when I worked in IT call centers.

I worked Christmas day and all the holidays in general, when I was in restaurants. Now days, I get to pick and choose my time off.

The week between Christmas and New year's day are a great time to take off and reflect on the previous year. Not too many people start a refinance application or put offers on homes this week in my market.

Still, I will probably work a little this week. My family members all have to work this week and I'm getting a little bored sitting at home.

I'm sure there are plenty of people who wish they had this luxury. I personally don't care that much because I am not religious at all. If I were religious and these holidays were very important to me, I would make sure to work for a company who are closed on Christmas/Easter etc.
