Someone needs to tell your boss

Won't be me. I don't tattle on coworkers unless something really serious is going on. I brought something to a manager's attention once, maybe twice in 20 years.

You don't want to get the reputation of being the office tattletale. It doesn't even make you look good to the boss. At least...I wouldn't want the kind of boss who values grown adults who tattle on each other like little kids.

It's one thing having visible CCTV cameras in a room but quite another having unannounced hidden cameras spying on staff.

What other hidden cameras does this boss have? Ones that can peek up women's skirts or down blouses?

I think the fired guy should get some advise from his lawyer or union
It is legal. I retired as a pharmacist and there were cameras everywhere. Same at casinos, ICUs etc

There just has to be a small sign somewhere (OP, if there isn't a sign by the front door, tell your boss to post one NOW.)

Also, when I was on the road fo 30 years and then working in a professional office, there was a clause in my contract that company phones and computers were subject to observation

Bad management

So putting up cameras looking up women's skirts and down their blouses is legal, just so long as the cameras are not in a locker room or a bathroom.

One should not play with their "thing" at work.

Only illegal in areas with an "expectation of privacy". Lawyer can't offer anything. Very unlikely this is a Union shop but if so, it'd need to be addressed in the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
