We could run rings around you but you would win every backing up contest! Three pivot points make it hard to do that 'reverse' thing!

Good old "wiggle wagons".

Took my drivers test in a cabover pulling 20ft double flats stacked with cardboard. Back in the day you could do that so as to shorten the test by avoiding all the backup stuff...

Will robots keep the hookers at truck stops gainfully employed?

Maybe the hooker will be automated as well

Saw article about new self-driving trucks on the road...

How difficult would it be to rob self-driving trucks? If a crew doesn't have to worry about harming a human driver would it be somewhat easy to block the truck and steal the contents?

All commercial trucks have an Achilles's heel; which I will not even mention. But anytime we have to stop or go very slow we are sitting ducks. That would go for driver or driverless trucks. Possibly the driverless trucks could fare better because of a constant link to their home base - of course that would need the appropriate software to identify the threat.

I would also imagine that they would need to stop less often than human drivers, can drive through the night, etc. The only reason they would need to stop is pretty much to refuel...

I am not sure I agree that humans are better drivers than computers over the long distances. The number of death/injuries from the non commercial human drivers is a disaster and driverless cars might be an improvement. Not sure what the statistics is for commercial drivers...

Could end up being a hybrid like the driverless cars in AZ are now with a person behind the wheel just in case.
There are decisions that a human is just better at making vs a computer...
