Count yourself Lucky OP.. BACK before the day of online conceivability, Fathers had to revel away from FAMILY without such!! Between, Skype and FaceTime.. at least you can connect!! Back when I grew up my father was pretty well away 2 weeks out of every month on average.. which means 6 months a year he was absent !
We only got to hear from mom How he was and SHE filled that gap with playing football throws with my brother another activities for myself that kept us together as a nuclear Family.
Today, there's a lacking of that era Many Families are no longer Nuclear.. as Many single parent families area forced to become reliant on "Self-Preservation" mode!! When it became apparent that Families were required ( 2 parent ones) to BOTH had to work to make ends meet.. things went downhill from there!!
Anyone who thinks our society could ever go back to those days of OLD are delusional. IF OP your need tomato some good income to maintain Family lifestyle.. It's maybe the best option. Then of Course, you could obtain equivalent locally.. then course NO!
Good luck tho OP ..at least you've been offered something with a good income level!!!
Singapore is expensive, so you’re not going to get a whole ot of bang for your buck there. Plus you’ll be over the foreign earned income exclusion cap and will have to pay federal income tax on at least part of your income on top of Singapore tax. If you are single with no kids, it might still be worth it, but if you have a significant other and/or kids, it would likely be too much separation. I don’t think $150K in Singapore is really going to give you enough to allow you to fly in family all that often, plus the distance to get there is pretty far.
It depends on what kind of family you have. We live 300 miles from my in-laws, and we probably only see them (by choice) 5 times a year.
From an economic point of view, 150k won’t go far in Singapore.
