Just out of curiosity would a master's degree be required for a Help Desk Job?

No, most help desk positions are usually entry level at most companies, so no masters' required. Usually masters' degrees are often preferred for the usual management positions in IT.

Yeah this. And it also depends on the field. A masters degree in an easy subject like english lit or history is not going to require near the time or dedication then one in say, structural engineering or computer systems engineering.

For an IT job you better plan on acquiring the PMP certification - Project Management Professional. I think it originated in the Construction Field, my career area, but has become the de facto standard for IT workers. In fact, there are now sub-categories of the PMP certification, such as Agile PMP and SCRUM Leader, which apply almost exclusively to the IT field.
