Let's say you are eligable for Unemployment Benefits and you want to enjoy your Benefits until it runs out until then you can be more picky with jobs and you'll still get a paycheck every week as long as you look for work.
Or you can always go back to work with an aggresive job search method?
Is it better to go back to work or enjoy UI Benefits while you still can?
In my state, max UI benefit is $713/week ($37,000 annually). I qualify for the max, but it would be a pay cut of far, far more than that, plus the loss of health, dental, vision and prescription benefits, retirement contributions, social security contributions, and the like.
depends on what the options are in terms of employment. If you're only getting call backs from lousy companies with poor reviews online, I would say stay unemployed. Working for train wreck of a copy will **** you off more than being unemployed

Thanks, but I prefer to work.
Max unemployment is for 26 weeks, so in your state the max a person can collect is $18,500 and that amount is also taxable at Fed and state levels as income.
My employer closed his doors at the end of 2016. A rep for one of our carriers got me an interview right away with another agency close to my home. I had been working from home for my employer since I moved out of state earlier that year. I went to the interview and he wanted to hire me right away, but for almost half of what I was making. He said the pay in this state is a lot lower due to lower COL. My unemployment was significantly more, so I decided to stay on unemployment and get my new house organized from the move. I'd start looking for a new job when it's about to run out. I was able to do that because I'm not the bread winner in the family, my DH is. Had I been, then I would have looked for a suitable job right away! I actually ended up working for the guy I interviewed with, but it wasn't until 7 months later and I did negotiate a little bit better pay.

Ok. Makes even less sense then. If I were to take my vacation and sick leave in sequence I would earn about that much during my leave.
Even for people who aren’t as fortunate as I am, UI doesn’t make a lot of sense. It is always a relatively small fraction of your gross pay. It will keep you from starving, but most likely won’t pay the rent as well.

Why did you apply to those companies in the first place?
They don't cold call people out of nowhere
Don't apply if you have no intentions of working there
