I met a semi-successful MLM person once. She was young and very attractive. Lots of men would gladly fork over $50 for 20 minutes of her attention. It was kinda sad though because she thought she was just so smart and such a sly businesswoman when in reality, they only wanted one thing.

I have a family member that is an amazing sales person. He started his own investment firm and made lots of dough.
Before that though he was involved in a MLM. He couldn't make it work for him and he hit it hard. I am talking having huge seminars in various major metro areas all over the nation, flying around to them one after another, recruiting and pushing the opportunity etc..... This guy is a master at sales.
If he couldn't be successful in MLM, almost no one can.
You have to be at the very top level, basically be a cofounder of the MLM.
The only people I know who enjoy doing these are women who would not "work" otherwise and like getting a discount on all of the stuff they buy for themselves. In other words, people with money to burn who don't need to be bringing in extra income. Not exactly what most people have in mind when they are looking for a "job."
And where you have to hustle all of your friends and family in order to make any money. Selling leggings or supplements on Facebook doesn't make you a small business owner.
Worst "job" ever. It's not a job, it's begging friends, family, and strangers for money practically.
I agree. These firms pull in countless numbers of people every day. They create visions of life on easy street, playing on peoples desires. Its especially bad for those out of work for a while, as they will pay to join and wind up disappointed and further in the hole. Its the same psychology used by self help groups to sell seminars worth thousands of dollars. One called NXVIM made the news recently for sex slavery. These people know how to get in the heads of others, be it to get money or something else.
I posted a while back in a seminar I got roped into with a friend. The host ran onto the stage apologizing for being late as he came from his beach house in Ipanema. He practically called us all fools for working a full time job and not being a member of the sales cult. Even went as far as telling people who didn't have the cash to join now to call a friend, family member or even ask a fellow spectator to possibly help. I was stunned. Wanted to strangle my friend for having brought me. He fortunately saw through the horse manure sales tactics also and didnt join.
The host had all the mannerisms of a used car salesman crossed with lingo designed to hit the right mental buttons of some people. Quite a few looked like they joined that day.

I was going to say men get involved in MLMs too, but now I think about it, they do prey more on women and it seems women are more likely to get hooked. I'm not the brightest person out there but I understand how these businesses work and I've seen people with far more education than I have, get hooked into them.
