Any employer who is trying to fill a #$%^& job that nobody would willingly take when they hear of it and fewer stick it out for the day.

It probably depends on how long the gap was and why you were out of the workforce.

I think someone with a long gap there won't make it in. "I haven't stripped since 1995...."

Any right-minded recruiter will take a job gap into consideration. Try to think of it not as a hurdle to overcome, but work it as an opportunity to sell yourself and your own personal outlook. Either that or truckers, strippers, and best of all stripping truck drivers.

I was thinking the latter mattered more than the former. I had a gap of nearly a decade, but invested some time and money to refresh my skills. Once I did that, I landed a job fairly quickly.

How many "right minded" recruiters are left?

Not many. I am skeptical of 99% of what comes into my inbox.

Most of it is automated and untailored, even for positions requiring 10 years of experience.
