Work is a way to escape the troubles at home.
Home is a way to escape the troubles at work.

Turn off your brain. A bad day at work is nothing different than a bad day at home.

Adrenaline and other bad hormones that get produced during stress, won't just fade away from docile things like reading, laying, sitting... They will stay inside the body, concentrating over time.

Only vigorous exercise gets rid of them. Too bad I didn't realize this for a long time. Now, I grab a bike and a 1-2 hours' ride cleanses my body from all that stress. Actually, I am biking now pre-emptively, in the mornings, time permitting.

What I dislike is a bad day at work affecting sleep. Not that I overly give a damn or are too serious about work, but in getting older, it's harder to rid myself of the day's actions of others. It doesn't make sense to me, but still happens.

I actually go the gun range and then have a glass of wine when I get home.

I drink whiskey while cleaning my guns. At least that way I have a good excuse if I accidentally shoot myself.

I like a nice walk after a stressful day.

I had that backfire on me once. Back in March '99 after Seattle had it's wettest winter on record, it was 5:00, dry sky, and days were getting long enough there was still daylight remaining.

Stress full day so before hitting traffic home I thought it'd be a good idea to walk the nearby Ballard Locks. As I stepped on the grass little puddles of brown water would puddle under my feet. My careful steps weren't enough and my feet flew out from under me. I landed in what felt like a sopping wet and dirty sponge.

I sprung up quickly and glanced to see if anyone was point and laughing, then noticed I was completely soaked through my entire right side.

It was a miserable drive home.

Look for a different job, even if I don't apply for anything I realize that I could be somewhere else (while thinking of telling the boss where to go and how to get there)
