Just doing some research and would like to know what type of freelancing you do and if your work requires that you to be in the same geographical region as your client. With the exception of writers or web designers/programmers, it seems that most of the freelancing careers requires you to be in the same locale as your clients (for example, massage therapists, wedding photographers, etc..)
i assume you use freelancers as a synonym for self employment.
i have known a lot but as a rule it was not the road to financial independence for most and
yes they did need to be in the locale. it was a source of good part time income for most that
i have known but a poor source of primary income and benefits.
Well, self-employment yes but mainly through offering a service. Writing, transcriptionists seem to be the best bet that doesn't require your clients to be within the same region as you.
I am a freelance writer. If it's a huge assignment, my clients fly me in. Otherwise, everything is by phone, fax, and e-mail. I have clients that I've worked with for years that I've never met.
I do some freelance work on the side. Graphic Design. Doesn't matter where me or my clients are as long as I have a computer, access to email, phone and fax. i'm good.
