So just heard that our company and/or company insurance has mandate that all employees sign up for this program that saves $xxx from health care at the end of the year, and if we dont do this, or opt out, they will deduct total $600 over the year from our checks. Is this legal? sounds shady as f....

Smokers has to call this 800 # for support, and we all wear fitbit and do min 5k steps a day.

nothing illegal about it. none of those things touch on discrimination against any federally protected class. Many workplaces give insurance savings to people who demonstrate healthier lifestyles.

That "deduction" is you paying a higher health premium.

Yes, so be glad they will still pay something toward your healthcare if you don't participate. We have had a similar program for several years now, and it's valued at about $1,000/year if you participate, either as a discount on your monthly contribution or as a contribution to your Health Savings Account. Well worth the effort and we are all grateful for it. The only difference is that in our case it came as a benefit, in your case it's a take-away.

Wrong. Everyone has a choice. To pay higher or lower health premiums. When your company is picking up your medical bills, smoking and being sedentary is a privilege you must pay extra for.
