I worked for 17 years at a place where there was a strictly enforced written code of conduct. One line was that sleeping on the job was grounds for immediate dismissal. There were jobs using dangerous equipment but this applied to all, even the desk jobs.

Where I am now management recognizes that a brief "catnap" can help employees focus better later in the day, and

we even have "quiet rooms" for naps at break times.

Tell them you need to be back on first shift or you're going to have to leave. You'll find out very quickly how important you are.
