Would they overlook this ? Comments like this are hurtful and my clothes already tells me I'm gaining weight and don't need her to point it out. Should I report her?
Yes you should report her and then sue her for defamation for say $10 million all because you can't handle a little criticism.
Or, use her comment as motivation to lose the extra weight. Clearly you are not happy about the weight gain but you want everyone around you to pretend you did not gain weight. Sort of like the emperor without clothes.
I have found in life if you take something negative but true and use it to better yourself instead of dwelling on the negative comment you come out way ahead. Lemons into Lemonade.
I call my fat friends fat all the times. They are not people I know from work, though. Your co-worker probably believes you two are buddies enough for make those type of "jokes."
Tell her that. It'll be the end of that.
ugh we are not even friendly or friends outside work. And if my friend says anything like that to me, I will stop talking to them. Calling someone fat is rude and unacceptable

Ughh...weather I lose or gain weight. it's none of anyone's business. Weather I decided to do something about it, is up to me and my business. unless you're my doctor, or some extremely close to me then I don't need you pint it out and embarrass me. worry about your own weight. Not to meantion, the said co worker is isn't slim herself. It's always overweight people that feel like they have the right to comment on others weight. like why don't get your ass into the gym and work on your weight before worrying about others

Is it something OP should report? No, if there is no more of it. But if there are other comments, then yes.
Thank you, finally someone who understands. Co workers shouldn't comment on each others bodies. It's irrelevant to my interactions to anyone at work. And when people gain weight, they know. We own mirrors and the clothes will let us know. I don't appreciate anyone pointing that out

You sure have some courage on this forum, why didn't you use some of it when your co-worker made her remark?
Waiting for the day when corporate technology in furnishings and fixtures is all 'smart' and has sensors monitoring the human workforce. I can picture it now.....
The employee comes in to work and sits down at that time the sensors in the chair register the user weight and verifies through video monitor. The PC speaks to the user, "good morning Ann, you gained a few pounds I see. No snacking today and you will be prompted to get up and walk around and all vending machines will be closed to you. This is part of the new Acme corporate policy on health and wellness. This interactive feature's goal is to save Acme XXX$$$ over the course of the year by keeping employees healthy!"
Later on, it beeps and speaks, "Ann I see you reached for a bag of potato chips and have a candy bar in your drawer... if you eat it you will be escorted by the HR Corporate police to the work out facilities for 20 minutes on the treadmill"
Why is everyone making light of this and saying she's too sensitive? It's absolutely rude to comment about someone's weight, especially since she didn't ask for any opinions. And it's not like she's that overweight or anything.
While I wouldn't report her to anybody, I would give her a piece of my mind and point out something about her that she should improve. Let her get a taste of her own medicine.
