She doesn’t have to be there until 9 am and it’s about 5 miles away. She is frequently 5 or 10 minutes late. Her boss asked her if she had a problem being on time. She said she is usually there by 9 or a little after but they want her at her desk by 9 and she said that is ridiculous. I told her it’s not and it’s easy to get there a few minutes early. It’s 9 am start time. A lot of people start at 8. Her husband has left by 7. Her kids by 7:30 and are teens. You have over and hour after that. How is it not possibly to be at her job by 8:50. Especially if you are only 10 to 15 minutes away. You also won’t hit school traffic either. I didn’t say all this to her but she was frustrated with me for saying that maybe leave herself a few more minutes in the morning and she is mad at he boss for saying she should be at her desk at 9.

And when she gets fired it will be her boss's fault.

Although butt-in-seat time is superficial in situations where it's not critical to operations, your relative sounds really immature. Her household is already awake with plenty of time to spare; why not get to work earlier?

Sounds like someone who doesn't want a job.

Vince Lombardi: "Team meeting tomorrow at 9 o'clock."

At 5 minutes before 9, he'd lock the door.

No one cares what she thinks, it's all about what her boss thinks.

We all know (and I suspect she knows as well) that she can get to work by 9. When her boss writes her up and tells her that her job is on the line, she'll find ways to get there on time.

That said...knowing how wives and mothers can be...everyone gets ready before mom gets ready. Mom makes sure kids have their sh*t together, with books, reports, etc. And someone has to make sure the dog(s) go out and get fed and go out again, and Jenny is going to need her soccer shorts later, so I better put them in the dryer before I go out the door...

And thus it goes. I can understand where your cousin is coming from...but yeah...you get up 15 minutes sooner, or you get up before the kids get up...you find a way.
