What is the proper dress protocol for an interview via Skype? I am leaning towards wearing a suit.........this would be for a white collar position. I've done a few of these in the past and wore a button up dress shirt but am thinking it's probably best to overdress rather than risk underdressing. Thoughts?

Dress for the type of job you're interviewing for, and as if you were interviewing in person. Good luck!
Agree with the others. Wear the same as you would wear in person. The only time to dress down is on phone interviews and I still dress up on those. It helps the confidence.
Dressing up for job interviews is a thing of the past. Yes, it may put a good impression but that doesn't in any shape or form tell about a person's ability to do the job. That is why analytical driven data provides employers with enough information about the individuals through public data. Judging someone for a job through appearance is almost like looking at their resume to see if they are qualified.
Most technology companies careless about how you dress rather than what you know to deliver what is required of you.
Haha, I was thinking that I probably don't even need to worry about dress pants...or ANY pants for that matter....as they'd only be viewing the upper 25% of me. With my luck something would happen that would require me to stand up in front of the camera.
