I'm a white woman and no. No AA coming my way. 2.5 years without a job offer.

I wish, but no.

If this happened to every company with racist hiring practices, 90%+ would be out of business.

You are definitely doing missing out. What field are you in currently? Maybe try moving to the west coast. The opportunities are plentiful. My last three bosses where white women. All making six figure salaries.

I can't work there with my line of work. Only NYC.

There are plenty of jobs. The issue is that other people generally "know someone" or are willing to take less $$.

I am highly skilled and require a lot more $$ than most people.

The fact that people always use the "In this day and age" rationale is laughable. Racism will always exist, hatred comes in many forms and racism is only one of them. There will always be people that judge others based on whatever intolerant belief they hold.

Many people who work in HR do not know or understand federal laws.

Well, the really funny thing here is that most Indian population is Caucasian, in a strict sense. (So are Australian natives.)

Nope. You read that wrong. The company is a RECRUITMENT company that was recruiting for a CLIENT. Regardless of their own staff make up, they are not allowed to do racist recruiting for a client.

I agree that a company should always hire the best candidate regardless of really any qualifier....but you are incredibly nave if you think that is what happens in most cases. Right now many of the best candidates out there are experienced, knowledgeable and over 40. I can guarantee you that those candidates are not treated fairly.

On the converse side, if you truly believe that sentiment of hiring the best candidate, then are you ok with getting rid of diversity programs?

Diversity program do hire the best candidates. It's a fallacy that lesser qualified diverse candidates are being handed jobs.

It's 2019. If a job calls for a BS in IT and 5 or more years of experience, there are a ton of people of color, women, and LGBT people who meet those qualifications.

Diversity programs basically encourage diverse candidates to apply. The more diverse people apply, the more will be hired. It's statistics, not handouts.
