The apprenticeship program is a partnership of community colleges with private business. Participants are practically guaranteed a job so students have little to no student loan debt. Employers are eager to hire in this hot economy and having a hard time filling positions.

Ivanka Trump, senior advisor to the President, spearheaded this program with the Secretary of Labor. She has been a big supporter of workplace retraining, family leave, small businesses, opportunities for women, etc. It seldom gets reported. I watched several videos on the White House youtube channel over the past two years as different programs rolled out.
