Most people who don't communicate with management and upper management to resolve things immediately it's because they love the drama. They like the "stress" of being contacted all the time, made to think they need to show up and be a hero to the old place, etc. This is just like the stories of people who complain they are get harassing phone calls but refuse to change their phone number.

I've had the same situation when transfered to a different dept in the same company and I simply told people that I don't work in that department anymore and referred them to my old manager. If it was a question that I actually knew the answer and it was quick then sure I'd help out with a quick email reply. If it was something I didn't know the answer to, didn't have access to find an answer or didn't work on the project then I just told them I can't help. The end
