I'm a steward, too. Why in heaven's name would you think that would help you in getting hired? You're a steward for the union, it's a sideline gig to your position with the company. And one that can put you at odds with the employer sometimes.

I am management, and seeing shop steward on your application would not help, as it isn’t relevant to any job I hire for. Being shop steward is a side thing, not a job responsibility.

Although I am a manager, I am generally pro-union. There is an innate power imbalance between a large corporation and an individual person, and organized labor can balance those scales. I am on good terms with most of the shop stewards in my organization. There are a few bad apples in that group who abuse the union organization. I see grievances being filed periodically over silly, minuscule issues. I have been grieved several times, and every time the grievance has been found to be without merit.
