90 hour work week at 52 weeks a year is 4,680 hours worked in a year. They likely don't work 90 hour weeks regardless of what anyone might think, GMs at that stage delegate. They're likely working 50-60 hours since the structure allows for several other managers to take care of the day to day operations. But let's go with 90 anyhow. Base pay of $138k plus hefty bonuses, let's say they hit very few of the categories and at the end of the year they bring home $150k.
$150k at 4680 hours equates to a $32.05 hourly wage. That's the absolute bare minimum given unrealistic expectations. They're likely working well under 4000 hours and are compensated at a higher rate thus their hourly rate in a vast majority of the occasions they're making over $40 an hour.
Either way, not very much above minimum wage isn't over $30 an hour, no matter what school you went to.
Minimum wage being $7.25 in some states still and in mine it's $12 so yeah it is way above minimum wage.
People are always surprised that retail managers make 6-figures, but no one is surprised that software developers or nurses make the same. And some software developers only have a bachelor's.

You obviously do not know one. They do not work 80-100 hours a week, closer to 50 max with rare exceptions. The assistant managers sometimes still put in long hours but still nowhere near your ridiculous claim and their salary is in the $80k+ range plus bonuses.
It’s always entertaining when someone who has no clue tries to sound like an expert.
That's not just Costco. It's all large retail (Sam's Club, Target, Walmart, etc.). The store managers make good money, but you work holidays, weekends, nights, etc. It's definitely not for everyone.
Costco have an amazing culture. The owner believes in giving back to his employee. I remember watching the Costco documentary and I love their culture. The owner himself said that he doesn't even have a secretary. He answers his own phone. Last time I checked, I believe their experience cashiers make like $40K a year. That's the same kind of money that some Asst. Managers make in other Retail Company.
At the same time they are also VERY picky in hiring. So their culture and pay works to their benefit - they give more, but expect a lot more from their employees in return.
I've been to a number of Costcos and look at the picture of the current General Manager at each store. I don't recall ever seeing a woman or person of different race. Seems every Costcos General Manager is a white male in the early 50s or late 40s.
And your point is that Costco is therefore racist?

I used to be a big box retail store general manager, although not at Costco. This was about 10 years ago.
My base salary was just over $100k at the time, and I typically pulled in a bonus of about 30%. I mostly worked 45-50 hours a week, although there were a 2-3 weeks a year where I would put in about 80. My department managers made about $50k each, and mostly worked 40-45, pulling about 60 during those 2-3 week peak weeks.
Adjust for 10 years of inflation, and I wasn’t paid much less than a Costco GM is now.

Personal knowledge, nearly 30 years with the company. Even assistants do not regularly work over 50 hours a week on average. Their salaries were in the mid $80k + bonuses. No one in the company comes anywhere near making minimum wage. This is common knowledge. Even long term cashiers are getting $58k+ for 40 hours a week.
