How do you get a job in another state?
Many employers refuse to consider non local candidates.
It is unlikely to have personal connections with people in other states who could get you passed the HR screening, directly to the manager. Personal networking is normally local.
Are we imprisoned in our current state, so we cannot move to the other side of the country?

The only way I've ever done it is to move to where you want to work without a job. Did it a few times when I was young. It's scary, but when you're young you can do things like that. Take a chance.

My having real competence in some sort of useful work that they can't find enough to do.
That isn't hard is it?

Nope. But you can't expect to have an invitation to go there.

We discussed in another thread that having real competence that they cannot find elsewhere does not get you past HR screening.

a) Real competence is what gets their head hunters looking for you.
b) None of these life approaches apply to the special snowflakes.

Headhunters and HR cannot recognize real competence when they see it.

When your lease is up (assuming you don’t own property) drive out to where you want to live. Maybe take a second job right now to build up some dough.

That’s really what you have to do.

We have done it a few times. Interview by phone or plan a vacation and have interviews lined up for when you are there.

What is the problem? Just look for jobs on the internet.....if you get a job offer out of state, prepare to pay your own moving expenses though....

Haven't cracked this one yet.

I've applied for and been selected for positions posted INTERNALLY.
