Must be NICET Level III certified to inspect fire sprinkler systems.

90% of the time he works by himself and has unlimited use of a company vehicle and typically drives 100 miles per day if inspections are close by but if far away he has a company credit card for lodging and food when on the road.

Bosses are NEVER around and an inspector NEVER has anyone looking over their shoulder. All inspections are done on laptop with reports sent to the office and customer.

The average fire sprinkler inspector earns $53,160 but I have known some who have earned six figures through commissions and long work hours. Instead of 40 hours per week they might work 60 to 65 but the money is good. How much would you work for $100K plus full benefits and company vehicle?

The best part about the certification is if you need a job you will be hired within 24 hours and I am not kidding, the market is just that tight.

And people with degrees actually apply for crap jobs like the OP posted?
When I lost everything, I was going to entry level job interviews with engineers and such...Funny thing is I usually got the job.

During the recession I knew of two recent law school graduates that passed the Bar and went to work as paralegals for $10/hour. That was all they could get then. It seems like law firms would be paying more now, 10 years later in a good economy.

I wouldn't take that kind of job posting seriously unless you see them with great frequency. Because any and I mean anyone can post a job ad. There is nothing filtering out the ones that pay too little or are asking for high qualifications with low-pay.

I will get contacted within the same day from staffing firms (aka contract firms) for IT work wanting to pay $25.00 an hour on a W2 and another willing to pay $100 an hour on a W2. I don't get all excited that the $25.00 an hour is a trend, it is just someone who thinks they can get someone to do a job paying that low. When they can't, or they end up having to keep firing people cause they can't do the job, then they increase the pay being offered or they don't fill the job. The $25.00 an hour isn't a commodity trend, because I get contacted about $100 an hour in the same day.

People hear "law firm" and picture them all full of wealthy attorneys. That's not always the situation, because it depends on the kind of law they do. Law firms doing bankruptcy and foreclosure work is very cut-throat for the law firms, they have lots of competition. So they work as cheaply as possible.

They also typically don't offer health insurance

I think you're right. I know a girl that works at one, makes like 12 even though the original job add offered north of 15.

$11 is the minimum wage here. McDonalds has to pay more than that or they’d never hire anyone.

I've seen job listings for office staff with a starting salary of $9/hr. Minimum wage in this state is currently at $10.10/hr. How can any company post an ad for a job starting below the state's minimum wage? Unbelievable!

Sounds like your problem is solved.

But it also sounds like it isn't enough for you to just laugh and ignore it and move on. I'm guessing you want to make sure nobody else accepts this paltry salary, regardless of their desire and willingness to do so. Why is that?
