I received a phone call early this morning while I was still asleep. They left a voice mail. I had applied for a job on indeed for a receptionist position at Jerry's dealership. They only gave his first name and cell number. I'm always worried about these scams. So I looked up the cell number and says it's from a different dealership in a different city.
When I apply for jobs, I ALWAYS write down the phone numbers and put them in my phone so I know who's always calling.
So my question is, should I call them back? I thought people calling you would be from the company line. Should I call Jerry's directly to see if they have a Joe working for them?
Sure, go to a fixed line phone and call them back. Many times dealerships own many outlets in different towns selling different brands. What's the risk?
Thanks. I think I'll go ahead and call him. I found a Joe on their website but a different number. As you said, he probably owns other outlets in the area.
How business setup their phones can vary. Some places will look like they're calling from the same number, others may have various numbers or a combination of both.
Not sure what you would be risking by just calling them back (other than a few wasted minutes if it wasn't the same party). But if you don't call them back, you are risking that opportunity you applied for.
Thanks, everyone. Actually, I have been through this before. Calling someone and finding out it was a scam. They were sending me information that didn't apply to the job AND different address than the actual company. I found out that it was a scam and I didn't go there. That's why I'm always on the lookout.
I did call the company directly and spoke to Joe. Not the one that called. He's willing to give me an interview. He's actually in the process of interviewing people for the position today and tomorrow. So I have an interview at the dealership with this Joe tomorrow. So don't know the other Joe that called me. Maybe there are two Joe's.
