Oh I don't know, I would and know of others as well.

Tend to use a good portion of my vacation/PTO days to create long weekends, it gives more bang for the buck.

Tuesday before a holiday is likely to be light and may even leave early. Stick two days onto the closed Wednesday, then add weekend and you've got a nice five days off. That's an entire week of vacation using only two PTO days.

It really comes down to what plans you've got for vacation time and how much of it in the bank.

Normally the one or two days after a major holiday off are light anyway (in my business/office experience), because so many people take off. This is especially true of management and or anyone above.

In fact this trend has increased thanks to our friend Mr. Internet and other technology. Depending what one's job is you can work from home, the beach, Paris, France or anyplace else.

We had both the 4th and 5th off. I had an install going on Friday so I was available by phone if needed. My company usually tries to make long weekends where they can. We are pretty laid back and flexible- as long as you don't take advantage

Sorry to hear that. What a rip off.
