Surely I am not the only one who finds this absolutely ridiculous?

I just would like respect every day at work - not one hour of "fame."

I don't need candy, flowers, or even a lunch. Just don't talk down to me like I'm a moron or learning-challenged. I pay rent, bills, drive a car responsibly, pay taxes - just like my bosses.

I whole-heartedly agree.

As for this day being celebrated? Its ok... will I be recognized? I don't think so. Am I ever recognized? Well, if they can come up with something to yell at me about to make them feel superior? Yep, then I am recognized.

Anyone hiring?

The fact that someone dreamt up this "day" in the first place. It's hilarious.

It was Hallmark or American Greeting's wasn't it? This "day" joins Boss's Day, Grandparents Day, etc.

I TOTALLY agree. I am currently temping as an administrative assistant. It's not an 'easy' cake job as many would believe. I bust my butt for VERY LITTLE. I've told the girl I am 'temping for' she is should get at least $15.00/hour for this job but I make WAY below that.

I find many people (we serve a large group of people) talk down to me. I have a Masters Degree. It rankles me, seriously.

No Admin should be talked down to. I've done this job for 13 years and only had one A__hole who I had put into place fairly quickly. I left him stranded in San Francisco. He got the message quickly. This is a partnership, speak to me that way you address your boss.

I always favor money, Amex gift card or day of bliss. My job celebrated by giving us breafast, a chair massage and a luncheon. I can't complain because truly they don't have to give me anything, but I'm also blessed to be employed. I do think the day is superficial, but one of those days if you are the boss you will be looked down upon, no matter how lame the day is.
