small problem that is causing a MAJOR PROBLEM! (employer, jobs, temp)

I am moving to the Shreveport, Bossier City area to go to school @ LSUS, I am needing to find work within the next month or so, so I can go ahead and get moved down and get use to the area before school starts. I am a year of experience in a daycare and call center, also now I am an Executive Assistant at the local Housing Authority. The small problem is that I have a misdemeanor on my record and I am doing probation for it. My resume is good and my skills are great, but that one thing keeps me from getting jobs, I have applied at US Support and didnt get approved. So is there anywhere that I can get a job at?

I worked with a girl who had misdemeanors on her record (she told me otherwise would have never known). We were doing temp work at a major employer in town. So either the temp agency didn't check records or didn't care. Ask for "temp to hire" jobs and you can get a foot in the door to be permanently hired.
