Nope not yet. I made it all the way to verbal job offer and waited a month and a half to receive the official offer. Just this past Friday, I was told that the job was on permanent hold. I even knew the VP of the department(I use to work for him at a different company) and he was excited about working with me again. He flew me halfway across the country. You don't have it till you have it.

Hi there,
While I understand that none of you can give me a definitive answer I would like an opinion.

I had an interview for Full time sales assistant role for a local Family Bakery. They had read my CV and one of the first questions I was asked was if I was only interested in working as an assistant or if I would consider taking the manageress position. There were then more questions about the manageress position.

Do you think this is them showing a real interest in hiring me? The lady said she's probably phone me by today but I'm going insane running it over in my head.

So, I had a phone interview last Wednesday. It went wonderfully. I was contacted for a second interview (or is that considered a first interview?), which took place this past Tuesday. I thought that it also went really well, and while I hope that I'm not jinxing myself, I think that they liked me. I sent a thank you email later that afternoon and received a response this morning, which read, "It was a pleasure to meet you. I look forward to speaking with you very soon. In the meantime, if you have any questions, please let me know." So, historically, all of my thank you emails have been ignored, so I'm kind of feeling a little positive that I actually got a response AND they said they look forward to speaking with me very soon. Thoughts!!?

A couple potential employers responded to my thank you letters before, stating the pleasure of meeting me, they'll contact me shortly, in the future/or at ___date, etc; they didn't necessarily lead to an offer. Some employers respond out of politeness, regardless if they want you or not.

That said, I'm not implying your situation is the same as mine. I do wish you the best and let us know how things go.

At the end of the day, until you get an offer, you don't know.

I left with the interviewer saying that they would give me a call early next week with their decision. Based on your experiences, is there any way of at least getting a good sense if somebody locked the position up? Feel free to ask any questions or input that you may have. Thank you for your time.

Chris
You don't know until you get the offer. You should get a feeling of where you stand from the interview. Remember there are a lot of gatekeepers in a company. The receptionist, the HR person, the actual manager, etc. If you give the wrong vibe to one of them then it's all over. There's a lot of biasness in interview and it's due to human nature. The interviewer might not like you because of your race, appearance, gender, sexual preference, etc. If the person interview does not like you for whatever reason then you're not getting the job. Practice on being charasmatic, extroverted, etc. I am shy person so this is my downfault. Everytime, i interview i review what transpired in the interview and try to improve on those areas. Did you smile, make good eye contact, ask industry related questions, make the inteviewer feel at ease, make small talk before and after the interview, build a good rapport with the receptionist, etc. Interviewing should be a job in itself. You have to sell yourself like a high end escort.

Also, try to change the interview into a conversation. Interviewing is similar to dating, it's a numbers game. You have to approach a lot (interview a lot) in order to get experience when it comes to finally getting a date (job). Sometimes, you get lucky and approach the right person (job) and get a date (job offer) from your first try!

Good luck, dude! I am on the same boat.

Just thought that I'd pop in with an update. As I said, I had a telephone interview on Aug. 24 and an in-person interview on the 31. I was contacted for a web-cam interview today. I've never heard of this and am a little anxious. Also, I've never had a third interview. I'm driving myself crazy wondering what we could possibly have left to talk about!
