Default An interesting thing on Company websites

I have an interesting question, and since you guys are job hunting gurus, I thought I'd pass it by you.

IN a application website for a company, sometimes (actually alot of the times) they ask if I have any "additional attachments" to help with the consideration for the job...I'm wondering, what do people actually ATTACH? (this is not the resume or cover letter section, it's "additional")

I have no clue what to attach and I feel like I'm letting an opportunity slip through my fingers to really let myself shine. Most of my documents are excel files, where I could show my financial modeling skills, but excel is never an accepted format.

Anyway - your insight is highly valuable!

Here is an example:

My husband does maintenance work. He attaches his EPA HVAC certification and his county issued swimming pool certification.

If the job requires or prefers a degree, license, or certification, that would be a good attachment.

Reference Letters! I have collected a good number of them over the years. Some were from past clients who liked working with me and some were from coworkers that I asked to write me something on company letterhead.

I scanned a few of the better ones into my computer and turned into a PDF. That's what I attach.
